Automatic Under Seat Of Vegetable Truck
A Chinese who has been accustomed to carry a Beretta automatic pistol under the seat of his lorry “because h£ was afraid of being stopped and robbed of large sums of money while on his vegetable run from Gisborne to Opotiki was convicted and fined £3 and ordered to pay costs 10s when he appeared before Mr E. L. Walton, 'S.M., in the Court at Gisborne on a charge of having in his possession an unlicensed automatic. He was Louie Sun Wing, Makaraka, and he pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant G. S. Norris, prosecuting said the police had been .informed that the defendant had an unlicensed firearm. Constable E. '.Jones had found the pistol and the defendant said that it had been given to him by an old Maori wo,man oh Coast. The senior'sergeant applied for the confiscation of the weapon.
