He got down and moved on before she arrived at the gate, ’and she watched with mounting curiosity as he started to shin up the pole supporting another dove-cote further along, the street. She decided to investigate. “What are you doing up there?” she asked severely. “Delivering the theatre calendars,” was the surprising reply. “Mr Chapman says we must put them in the boxes or under the doors!”
