Thornton Women’s Institute

There was a good attendance at the July meeting of the Thornton Women’s Institute. Six new members were enrolled. An interesting letter was read from the Federation President. Mrs Spence offered to pack this month’s Link parcel. Mrs K. Stewart, of Whakatane, gave a very interesting talk on her travels through Scotland also a description of the Royal wedding procession. At the conclusion of the talk Mrs Stewart was" thanked and presented with a bouquet. A prize donated by Mrs Watts, was won by Mrs Sheat. Competition winners were:— Floating bowl: Mrs Ducker 1, Mrs C. Smith 2.Ginger bread: Mrs C. Smith 1, Mrs Law 2. Slip: Mrs Walker jr. 1, Mrs Walker 2. ! ( Best flower: Mrs Robb 1, Mrs Law 2. Best vegetable: Mrs Sheat 1, Mrs L. Smith 2.
