Pedigree Pigs And Dairy Stock In Keen Demand At Recent District Sales
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report on the following sales recently held in the district:— At the Combined Breeders Pedigree Pig Sale, boars and sows of all breeds were in keen demand. Berkshire sows on account of .Mr G. Hynds, Tauranga, realised up to 25 guineas. Large White sows on account of Awaroa Station and Estate of D. W. Spence, Whakatane, realised up to 21 guineas and 18 guineas respectively. Four Large Black sows on account of F. B. Missen averaged 15 guineas. At the third annual sale of “Spring Glen” Pedigree Pigs on account of Messrs Sullivan and Banyan, a high standard of pigs were offered. The following prices were realised:— Large White sows up to 25gns; Berkshire sows sold up to 21gns; Large Black sows sold up to 25gns; Tamworth Large Black cross 16gns. At the Te Teko sale held on July 12, dairy and beef stock were again in keen demand from a medium bench of buyers. Dairy cows realised up to £lB 10s; dairy heifers up to £18; beef sold from £9 10s to £l4 10s.
