WAIMANA OLD BOYS WIN CAIN RUGBY CUP

Mr J. Cain, secretary of the Waimana Football Club, donated a cup for annual competition between the Seniors and Old Boys Rugby teams. The past three Saturdays games have been played between the teams and last Saturday’s match saw the Old Boys the winners by two matches to one. The final match was won by 6—3. The game was full of interest from the kick-off. The Old Boys seemed to have the Seniors bustled the greatest part of the first half and although the Seniors had the Old Boys pressed right on their goal line during the final half of the second spell, they failed to score. Scorers: — Old Boys (6): G. Mitchell, a try and a penalty kick. Seniors: J. Rust a try. At the conclusion of the match, Mr Potter, President of the Club, thanked Mr Cain for the cup, then asked Mr J. Brown, captain of the Old Boys, to accept the cup with congratulations.
