Rugby Union Committee Petitioned: Cup Challenge

A petition, protesting against the decision of the Paeroa Rugby Union, not to challenge this year for the Peace Cup has been presented to the management committee of the union. ’ It reads:—

“We, the players and supporters of Rugby played under the jurisdiction of your union, view with disfavour the action of the executive committee in deciding not to challenge for the Peace Cup in this, the 1948 season. We feel that this is a retrograde step and can have only an increased lack of 'interest as its result. We urge, therefore, that this decision be reversed at the earliest possible opportunity and ask that a challenge for the Peace Cup be lodged . immediately.”
