Taneatua W.I.

Birthday flowers were presented to Mrs Fogerty, Mrs A. Tebbutt and Mrs Grey at .the June meeting of the Taneatua Women’s Institute held in the Taneatua Hall recently. Members were advised that the July meeting would be held a week earlier than usual as the first day of the Drama Festival would fall on the . usual meeting day. Mrs Stewart who has recently returned from overseas, gave a most interesting talk on her trip, speaking- in. particular of Holland and the Dutch people. At the conclusion she answered questions which were evidence of the interest of members in other people in other lands. The newly-formed Glee Club also received warm thanks, in appreciation of their well rendered items. The Golden Thread “A reading of Interest” by Mrs Frost, was on a fire brigade pole in the eighties and nineties. It was decided to raffle a dinner at the Drama Festival, the proceeds to go to the Food for Britain fund. A Nursery Rhyme competition arranged by Mrs Gardner, was w®n by Mrs Olliver. The competition, A Limerick about an Institute member, was won by Mrs Gardner, Mrs McDonald 2, and Mrs Merrie 3. Other competitions resulted: — Cheese straws: Mrs Merrie 1, Mrs Grey 2. Best flower: Mrs Olliver 1, Mrs Grey 2. Best vegetable: Mrs McDonald 1, Mrs Olliver 2.
