Owing to the rising costs of baby foods, that the Government be asked to have the price of these foods fixed at a reasonable price, was a remit submitted bW the Waihi branch and carried at the annual meeting of the Thames-Hauraki District Federation of Women’s Institutes. During the last 12 months, it was stated, one of these foods has gone up from 5s 6d a tin to 6s December, 1947, this food was 6s 9d. The first week in January, 1948, it rose to 6s 11-Jd. A small baby having four bottles a day would use two tins a week, costing just on 14s. What good would the 10s benefit do to the mother?
