No Local Successes In Recent Land Ballot
- Unfortunately no Whakatane applicants were successful in obtaining farming blocks in the ex-service-men’s land ballot held on June 10, at the Commissioner • of Crown Land’s office, Auckland. The ballot that concerned Whakatane applicants was for the Putiki block or, as it is known locally, the Awaroa block. This block of land comprises 650 acres ofr land divided into seven farms, complete with water, lay-out and house. Successful applicants were: Section 159/150, L. H- Watkin, Fapakura; 151, I. R. Finlayson, Whangarie; 152, N. J. Reeve, Matamata; 15?, J- E. Sigbertsen, Ohaupo; 155, I. N. Petersen, Te Puke; 156, U. R. McCabe, Taupiri; 162, E. W. Mitchell, Ohaupo.
