Otakiri Parcels For Britain Appeal
Contributors to the Otakiri Parcels for Britain Appeal will be pleased to hear that acknowledgment has been received from the London Medical Mission of the 'receipt of the 20 food parcels sent to them in November of last year. Owing to a postal mishap the letter of thanks, written by the vice-presi-dent of the Mission, did not arrive until May 25. An extract from the letter reads: “I hasten to convey our thanks to all of you who had a share in sending those 20 perfectly wonderful food parcels allof which have arrived safely at the end of February, and all the contents of which have now been distributed amongst many of our mot needy folk. We are deeply grateful for all the love and interest that lies behind these gifts, and your thoughts and service have meant to us more than you will ever know.
“It has been a joy to our workers to go round with some lovely tins of food, or milk, or cheese, and we have given the invalid food to those who are in very , poor health, but it has been an untold blessing to our poor friends to have these extras in what is at best a very low level of living. The conditions *of living amongst the poor are much harder than they were even during the war.”
The balance of the money raised £1 7s 9d was recently passed over to the U.N. Appeal for Children.
