Awakeri Labour Party Dance

The first of a series of three dances sponsored by the Social Committee of the Awakeri Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held in the Awakeri Hall on Saturday evening. The dance, which was very well attended, was one’ of the highlights of the present dancing season. The duties of M.C. were efficiently carried out by Mr McMahon who saw to it that the “show” went with a swing from start to finish. The Ladies’ Committee served a delicious supper, after which Miss Betty Newdick played a well received extra. During the evening keenly contested Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Miss H. Ferguson and Mr T. Ellis and Miss J. Fowell and Mr 11. T. Bingham. Mrs Harrison’s orchestra proved itself capable of satisfying the young and not so young with its well balanced dance programme.
