Whakatane Electricians’ Institute Holds Debate On Electricity Control

Mr Burgess gave a short report in: connection with branch reports to the N.Z. Electrical Journal at the monthly meeting of the Electricians Institute. He also outlined the procedure for acceptance of articles for the N.Z. Journal.

It was also reported that John Chambers, of Auckland, had replied to the branch in connection with the film on the “Babcock and Wilca Boilers.” It was now in the South Island and on its return would be allotted to the Whakatane branch. Mr I. B. Hubbard had agreed to do the operating at the high school.

The main event of the evening, a debate, “Private versus public control of electricity supply” went off very well. The speakers for Private control were Messrs Nock, V. Hoskins, R. Burgess, and for Public Control Messrs R. Combes, T. Hurndell, R. Oxenham.
