Motor Car Converted
A motor car belonging to Mr J. A. W. Roper, of Ohope, was unlawfully removed from George Street on Saturday, between the hours of .4.45 p.m. and 8.15 p.m. The car was located by. the owner on Sunday morning at the Heads, almost undamaged. Police are investigating.
Strand Extension Road A further conference is being arranged between Harbour Board and Borough representatives concerning; the proposed Strand extension road and drainage in conjunction with it. The Harbour Board’s special committee to confer on the matter will be Messrs W. R. Boon, chairman, H. G. Warren, H. Brabant and C. H. Brebner, consulting engineer. More Rock Blasting
With a view to further blasting operations at the harbour entrance, the harbourmaster, Capt Carey, has been asked to report to the Harbour Board when the rocks on the bar are uncovered and capable of being removed by the Navy. “China In Pictures” Dr Howie, retiring missionary from China; who, with his family was interned by the Japanese for three years, will show pictures of life in China in the Everyman’s Tent to morrow night at 7.30. This lecture should prove of great interest to all. Those who attend are assured of an interesting evening as they listen to the doctor and his experiences.—P.B.A. Motor Collision
A collision between a i car driven by the Reverend Te Puawhe and a truck driven by Mr A. Beatty occurred at the intersection of James Street and Hinemoa Street at 3 p.m. on Monday. The Rev Te Puawhe received minor cuts and bruises. The car’s wind-screen was broken and a front guard badly dented. The truck received slight damage to the right mudguard. The driver was the truck was not injured.
