WAIMANA BRANCH OF NATIONAL PARTY
The annual meeting of the Waimana branch of the National Party was held at Bell’s Hall on Friday evening.
A strong committee was elected, also ladies’ representatives to the Ladies Electorate Committee.
Mr W. L. Butler, Electorate Chairman, 'addressed the meeting on electorate finances, and gave an encouraging talk on the good work done by the South Auckland Division.
Mr W. Sullivan, M.P., gave a talk covering his impressions on Australia. “It was peculiar,” he said, “to see the Prices Referendum defeated so decisively. The people there had elected a Socialist Federal Government, and when the Government wished to extend and continue prices control over the whole States, the answer was No. Here is a strong indication that Australian electors resent Federal control, and choose, through their States, to manage their own affairs.”
