British Wool Textiles Set High Standard At London’s Industrial Fair

British wool textiles made a brave show at, the' British Industries Fair in London in May. As befits an industry in the forefront of Britain’s export drive, wool textile manufacturers in all sections set out to show the world the advances in technique, design, workmanship and chemical processing which have taken place in recent years, states the New Zealand Wool Board news service.

Between twenty and thirty wool textile manufacturers had stands at Earls Courts, where all textile exhibits were staged, and, in addition, there were displayed by clothing manufacturers, rain wear specialists, dyers and finishers, and garment makers of various kinds.

The keynote of the wool textile display was the superiority of British quality, design and workmanship. Among the new exhibits were wool treated with a rubber preparation which makes them suitable for motor car upholstery, wool furnishing fabrics in which the design is secured by the use of plastics, and lightweight cloths made from wool yarn, which, it is claimed, is given increased tensils' strength through the incorporation of a hidden nylon thread.
