Mr and Mrs S. G. Hirst and family, of Whakatane, left on Sunday by car for Auckland, whence they intend flying to the South Island to visit Dunedin and Timaru for the next two weeks.
Sergeant E. D. Fraser, relievingsergeant at the Whakatane Police Station, is expected to return to Whakatane today after a week’s visit to his home in Wellington. Constable J. Forsey who has been relieving Constable R. Julian, has returned to his home in; Gisborne.
While Mrs R. Jameison, of Opotiki, is a patient at the Whakatane Hospital, where she has recently undergone a major .operation, her daughter Loma and iittle son Gary are staying with Mrs Pledger, of McGarvey Road, Whakatane. Mrs Pledger is Mrs Jaimieson’s mother and is now a permanent resident of Whakatane.
