After lengthy discussion on the proposed trip to National Park on the King’s Birthday, the Whakatane Tramping Club, at its meeting on Wednesday night, decided that, as v the majority of the members were entirely new to tramping, the proposed trip was a little too tough a proposition for a start. An alternative trip to Tarawera was suggested and tentatively accepted. Club members will, weather conditions being favourable, travel to Tarawera Lake on the Saturday morning cross the lake and prepare for the night. On the Sunday the club will climb Mount Tarawera and return home on the Monday. As a training trip, the club intends to climb Mount Edgecumbe this Sunday. The meeting also instructed the secretary to write to an established tramping club and obtain a copy *; of the constitution. After this copy has been obtained, a special subcommittee is to be set up to draft a set of, rules. One rule that it was deemed necessary to adopt immediately was that no firearms are to be carried on any of the organised tramps unless with the permission of the executive committee. Any arms so'carried are to be unloaded. Te Teko Men’s Golf
