Successful Instrument Appeal By Whakatane Band: Hopes For Coming Year
The Whakatane Citizens’ Band appeal for funds to buy new instruments resulted in the collection of £125, for which the Band is very grateful, said the president, Mr A. J. Canning, in his report to the annual meeting on Monday night. Mr Canning added that two new instruments had been ordered and were due to arrive soon. A further seven were to be ordered in the near future. Another £2OO will be required to meet that cost.
The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr A. C. Sutherland; president, Mr A. J. Canning; vicepresidents, Mr and Mrs T. W. James, Messrs C. A. Suckling, W. Howat, E. B. Brown, N. Bremner, J. Pyne; committee, Messrs A. Stewart, F. Skelton, H. G. Warren,' E. Edwards, F. B. Cutler, A. Stewart jnr., R. Woods, L. Knowles, Oalton, K. Judd, D. McCarthy; secretary, Miss D. Stewart; treasurer, Mr F. Milne; conductor, Mr W. Jarrett; deputyconductor, Mr G. Skelton; sergeant, R. Woods; librarians, Messrs Judd and Stewart; drum major, Mr C. Ranby.
