Awakeri W.D.F.F. Decides To Form New Glee Club
Despite heavy rain there was a fair gathering of members of the Awakeri W.D.F.F. at the monthly meeting held in the Awakeri Hall. A special effort to raise money for parcels to Britain proved most successful. It was decided to hold a social evening at a future date also to form a Women’s Glee Club.
The' highlight of the afternoon was a most interesting talk by Mesdames Luke and Brizzle of their recent holiday spent at the W.D. rest homes at Waimate, Nelson and Palmerston North. A talk was ' given by Mrs Roberts on the growing of Chrysanthemums. She also displayed some very fine blooms. Competition results:— Fruit: Mrs Roberts 1, Mrs Butler 2, Mrs Wilson 3. Flower: Mrs D. McDonald 1, Mrs Roberts 2, Mrs Brizzle 3. Vegetable: Mrs Roberts 1, Mrs Matchitt 2, Mrs Butler 3. Dinner: No. 1, H. J. Eivers. Dinner: No. 2, Pamela Knowles. Child’s cardigan: Mrs McKenzie.
