Waterproof, Mothproof And Unshrinkable New Woollens
In ten years’ time no wool clothes would be sold without a guarantee of unshrinkability, a Leeds University wool scientist told clothing designers in Glasgow recently. He thought there was a special future for washable wool dresses and similar garments which could be relied upon to remain constant and shapely after repeated washing. The scientist, according to the New Zealand Wool Board news service, also prophesied mothproofing as a standard process, and saw no reason why within a short time sports jackets and flannels could not be offered proof against water. This would allow the user to discard the summer raincoat carried for protection rather than warmth. Every cloth of reasonable density could now be satisfactorily waterproofed.
