Car Strikes Stationary Truck: Occupants’ Lucky Escape From Injury
Four people Mr P. Butler, Mr K. Print, Mrs Butler, of Whakatane, and Mrs Hutchins travelling along Domain Road on .Sunday night had a miraculous escape from serious injury or death, when the car, driven by Mr Butler, collided with the tray of a parked truck belonging to Mr S. Luttrell, of Awaken.
Moving in to avoid an approaching car, Mr Butler hit the tray of the truck ripping out a large portion of it and extensively damaging the left side of his car. Mrs Butler suffered a few scratches and severe shock. The front .seat passenger and the driver were not injured at all.'
Mr Print narrowly escaped death as the tray of the truck sheared through/ the body of the car, passing within a fraction of an inch of his head.
