Rugby Sub-Union Aims To Squash Rough Play
A stern warning that rough tactics would not be tolerated in matches under its jurisdiction was given by the management committee of the Rangitaiki Rugby Sub-Union on Wednesday night when considering the case of a player who had been ordered off in last Saturday’s senior match between Te Teko and Edge- ' cumbe. He was stood down for one Saturday, a penalty that delegates considered light. Future cases will not be treated so leniently. The president, Mr A. Robins said that irregular tactics that would amount to assault anywhere else should not be tolerated on a foot--ball field and he, for one, would not be a party to it. He pointed out that if anyone got seriously hurt through that cause the Sub-Union might be held responsible. In any event, a. sports field was no place for displays of either bad tempers or bad manners.
