The “Ratajia” Stud now has for its herd sire the noted bull, Heatherlea Churchill, and as a result Mr Spratt has to re-arrange his breeding tactics and thus is offering some exceptional stock for sale, including many strongly bred to the Owler strain, and also heifers by the bull Oaklea Bright Diamond, by the C. 8.8. 2 Rising Yearling Pedgree Bulls. This Stud is far famed for its-pro-duction, being reckoned one of the foremost commercial pedigree herds in New Zealand. Past sales have created new records in the Bay of Plenty and this year the offering should’exceed past results as the wealth of type and production backing go far to show the public that this Stud is breeding very effectively. The yearling bulls are a very attractive line and should please the public. Anyone requiring a herd sire would do well to attend this fixture. THURSDAY, MAY 6 » At 11 a.m.f “THORNLEA” AND “PATAMOMONA” STUDS On account of Mr W. E. Riddell and Mr R. Jesse Tanner To be held on Mr W. E. Riddell’s property, Rangiuru, Te Puke. 52 HEAD comprising:— 28 In-Calf Pedigree Jersey Heifers 14 Yearling Pedigree Jersey Heifers 10 Yearling Pedigree Jersey Bulls. The “Thornlea” Stud is well known in the Bay of Plenty and since Mr Riddell has been selling young female stock, his fame has spread and many of his young stock have gone into well known Studs as far north as Kamo and Kaitaia. He is offering a very choice line of young cattle this year and should exceed last year’s results. He sold yearling heifers last year and averaged 23ggns. The offering carries a very strong line of Owler blood. The “Patamomona” Stud has just been founded in recent years and as the name suggests, is full of butterfat— Patamomona meaning butterfat. The herd sire, Heatherlea Fern’s Majesty, is a maternal brother to Heatherlea Churchill. Most of the young .stock represented in this offering are by Patamomona Star Prince, a son of Greenmeadows Agnes, H.C., with 6661 b fat at 2 years and 7031 b fat at 3 years.
