Lunatic Ably Conducts Own Divorce Case
A patient from Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum ably conducted his own case in a London Divorce Court last month. The man was judged insane in 1942 after killing his only child and was sentenced to Broadmoor during the King’s pleasure. The medical superintendent of Broadmoor stated in an affidavit read in the Court that his patient was mentally capable of conducting legal proceedings on his own behalf. The man sought a divorce on the grounds of misconduct by his wife, who did not contest the suit. When the decree was granted the man said: “I thank you very much, my Lord,” and went back to his solitary room behind the high walls of the asylum. ,
