The monthly meeting of the Manawahe Women’s Institute was held in the Manawahe Hall on Thursday last. Mrs Bowden presided. The meeting opened with the Aspirations read by Mrs Baldwin. Business was discussed at some length and a new member was enrolled. Competitions for the month were: Best flower: Mrs Morice 1, Mrs Bowden 2. \ Best shrub: Mrs Bowes 1, Mrs Thompson 2. • Puff pastry jam tarts: Mrs King 1, Mrs Bowden 2. Home-made kitchen article: Mrs Bowden 1, Mrs Baldwin 2. A dainty afternoon tea served by Mesdames G. Logan and D. Baldwin brought the afternoon to a close.
