BAY OF PLENTY BEACON Published Tuesdays and Fridays. FRIDAY, APRIL 16, 1948 HOSPITAL ESTIMATES: BIG INCREASE IN CAPITAL EXPENDITURE
At a special meeting yesterday the Bay jof Plenty Hospital Board considered and approved the estimates for the 1948-49 financial year. Maintenance income for 1947-48 was estimated at £19,515, the actual figure was £19,525 and this year’s estimate is £20,260. Levies on local authorities last year yielded £5665, and are estimated to produce £6628 this year. Capital receipts (from sale pf assets) amounted to £145 last year, and subsidies outstanding are estimated to bring in £2055 this year. Actual capital expenditure last year was £708,. and the estimate for this year is £4335, which will include the new mortuary, a new steam press for the laundry, contributions to the construction of the entrance roadway at the hospital and sundry additions to buildings and plant. Maintenance expenditure figures (last year’s actual amount followed by this year’s estimate) follow: Hospital, £43,855, £49,300; administration, £1246, £1300; maintenance of patients in sanatoria, £lOl7, £1,000; interest on loans, £2094, £1997.
