Waimana Farewell And Presentation To Popular Resident, Mrs N. Cooper
There was a large gathering of friends of Mrs N. Cooper in the Waimana Hall last Thursday afternoon to bid her farewell.
The function opened with an amusing competition, “Nursery Rhymes,” arranged by Mrs Potter. Mrs Stansbury gave two greatly enjoyed elocutionary items and vocal duets were delightfully sung by Mrs“ J. Boynton and -Miss Monica Boynton.. Miss Nola Rust delighted the audience with a clever exhibition of tap dancing. A piano solo was nicely played by Lynette Hampton, and a game of musical arms and community singing concluded the entertainment.
After a delicious home-made afternoon tea had been served, Mrs Marra on behalf of all present, said how much Mrs Cooper would be missed from the community owing to the active part she took in many social activities, as well as librarian at times.
At this juncture Mrs Marra asked Mrs Cooper to accept a lovely crystal vase and a fruit dish with the best wishes of all in her new home. Mrs R. Looney also spoke on behalf of the Institute members, presented Mrs Cooper with a small gift in appreciation of her faithful hdlp and interest in the Institute during her stay in Waimana.
Mrs Cooper thanked Mrs Marra and Mrs Looney for their kind remarks and all for the pleasant afternoon and the lovely gifts given her, all of which were greatly appreciated. As a conclusion to the afternoon, all joined in singing “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” and “Auld Lang Syne.”
