No Long Week-End When Anzac Day Is A Sunday
An outstanding matter upon which' the N.Z.R.S.A. has made numerous representations to the. Government, is the provision made in the Arbitration Court Awards in' the past, whereby when Anzac Day falls on a Sunday, a holiday can be transferred to the Monday or some other day. It was felt by the N.Z.R.S.A. that such a provision was not in keeping within the spirit of the Anzac Day Act, and the matter appears to have now been resolved by an assurance from the Minister of Labour that in practically all awards of the Court of Arbitration where Anzac Day is included in the list of holidays, the following clause is inserted:—• - . , - .
“Should any of the above holiAnzac- Day fall .yon a holiday, then for' the purpose of this award, it shall be observed on the following Monday.”
