Ex-Servicewomen Entitled To Some Forms Of Rehabilitation Aid
“Ex-servicewomen are, and always have been, considered for rehabilitation benefits,” said the Minister of Rehabilitation, the Hon. C. F. Skinner, in a statement in which he refers to recent representations made to him by representatives of ex-servicewomen’s interests. From those representations it had appeared that many ex-servicewomen were not fully aware that they were, equally with ex-servicemen, eligible to apply for suitable rehabilitation assistance.
The main field of rehabilitation aid for ex-servicewomen had been vocational training, and here many had already been assisted. Others had been granted education bursaries to study either in New Zealand or overseas. Others again had been set up in business. Some had first been trained and then established on their own account, as for instance hairdressers and florists.
