Rehabilitation Aid For Men And Women Still Serving In The Forces
Men and women who served with the armed forces during the war and who have since taken up the Army, Navy or Air Force as a career can still apply for rehabilitation assistance suitable to their needs and warranted by their wartime service, says the Minister of Rehabilitation, the Hon. C. F. Skinner. In the main, assistance would be for housing or for the furtherance of education. Educational assistance can be made available, providing the course proposed is shown to be in the interests of the serviceman or woman concerned. In the case of members of the Permanent Forces it would be to assist in improving their prospects in the v particular branch of the service in which they were engaged. With members of the temporary staff, educational aid would be to help them to re-estab-lish themselves in civilian life. '
There are two main groups affected. First are those who have seen service before March 31, 1946, and whose service before that date was war-tipe. Secondly are those whose service has been in an occupation force, such as “J” force.
