Whakatane Power-Boats At Rotorua Regatta: Some Enter In Arapuni Fixture
Two Whakatane power boats competed in the power-boat and yacht regatta at Rotorua on Easter Monday. They were Ron Duley’s boat, Miss Natalie, and one owned by Cyril Maconachie, Joanne. Miss Natalie is a new boat, and the Rotorua regatta was the first time she had raced other than on her shakedown trial and she had the misfortune to strike the buoy at the turn in her race as she was running in second place and was automatically disqualified. In her second race Miss Natalie was again unlucky, when her steering parted and she broke a strut in the stern which put her right out of racing for the rest of the day. Joanne also had no success on the day. There will be several boats travelling from Whakatane to the power-boat regatta on the Arapuni Lake this week-end and the owners hope they will do better there.
