Matata W.I. Annual Meeting Well-Attended
There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Matata Women’s Institute held in the Presbyterian Hall recently. Mrs Rolfe Withy was re-elected president. A comprehensive report of the year’s work was read by the secretary and the treasurer presented the balance sheet which showed a sound financial position.
Short addresses were given by Mrs H. Withy and Mrs Caverhill, V.O.’s, after which they were presented with dainty sprays. Points prizes for the year were awarded to Mrs Bagley, Mrs H. Withy and Mrs Rolfe Withy. Afternoon tea was served by the members. Competitions for the day resulted:— ■ Best flower: Mrs Magee 1, Mrs Smith 2, Miss Burt 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Withy. Chocolate sponge, iced: Mrs Parkinson 1, Mrs R. Withy 2, Mrs McGill 3. Jug of flowers: Mrs R. Withy 1, Mrs H. Withy 2, Mrs Smith 3.
