Ten Candidates Offering For Election To District High School Committee

Ten nominations have been received for the nine seats on the Whakatane District High School Committee, and the election takes place at the biennial householders’ meeting at the High School next Wednesday night. Here are the candidates names:— Mesdames J. D. Dallas, D. M. Pearse, M. S. Wilson, Messrs. F. G. •Cutler, K. E. Francis, E. H. Morice, Te Hira Fergusson, L. D. Lovelock J. H. Duthie fend Dr. A. W. Fletcher Cole. With the exception of the present secretary, Mr J. H. Duthie, none of the sitting members sought re-elec-tion. Householders entitled to vote' at the meeting are either the owners or the tenants of a house or part thereof, or parents of children attending the school who have been resident in the district for three months. In mining districts those holding a miner’s right are also entitled to vote. Both husband and wife may vote when one is qualified. Where a householder is at the same time a paid employee of the Education Board he is excluded from the franchise.
