Whakatane Golf Club Opens New Season
The Whakatane Golf Club’s season was opened on Saturday by the Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry, who in „the absence of the president, Mr F. R. Coombes, gave the opening address and drove the first ball. The first day’s golf took the form of a Canadian Foursome tournament with visiting golfers from many outside clubs competing. The tournament was won by Mr and Mrs T. M. Burke with a nett score of 67J. The day concluded with afternoon tea put on by committee women.
