Chief Guide Coming Here

District Guides And Scouts Planning Rally In connection wth the forthcoming visit to Whakatane of Lady Baden Powell, on Thursday, May 6, details have been discussed at a special meeting of Guiding and Scouting interests. The Scouts, have been invited to participate in the welcome rally which will be extended the Chief Guide in the Domain, and it is hoped to bring in all units in the town and country area§ of both Whakatane and Opotiki.

It is expected that Lady Baden Powell will arrive at Whakatane from Tauranga at 11 a.m,. when she will be tendered a Civic Welcome by the Mayor and representative officers from the district in the Grand Theatre. Guards of honour will be provided by the Scouts and Guides. In the afternoon at 2 o’clock a parade of all Guiding and Scouting units will march to the Domain from the Strand, the Chief Guide taking the salute from a point near Pohaturoa Rock.

Proceedings at the Domain will include a spectacular rally by Guides and Scouts, and dances of welcome by the Brownies and Cubs. Lady Baden Powell will address the gathering and the whole ceremony will conclude at 4 p.m. with ‘taps’. In the event of rain t?he parade will take place in the Winter Show building.
