HELPING ST JOHN TO HELP YOU

On Saturday the St John Ambulance Association plans to conduct a Paddy’s market in the St John Hall, King Street, the idea being to raise funds to provide additional equipment' for the Ambulance Brigade. A circular has been sent out asking for donations of saleable produce or, in fact, anything that can be turned into cash.

There is no question that the cause is worthy. Everyone knows the service the St John trained personnel give at all times of emergency. Everyone knows how these men and women stand ready at all times to answer the call for help from any quarter. However, not everyone realises the amount of unspectacular but none the less hard work that goes into their preparation to meet those emergencies. Few who are not directly concerned in the work of the Association realise the cost of equipment and organisation.

But the fact remains that a certain amount of supplies are continually being expended, and public generosity is the main source from which the cash must come for replacements. Knowing the value of the service it gives, the St John organisation feels confident that the public will support it to the limit on this occasion.
