Rotorua A Wins Jenkins Cup At First Gun Club Shoot On New Range
Over sixty shooters were present at the Whakatane County Rod and Gun Club's shoot at the new range recently. Teams from Rotorua, Opotiki, Te Puke and Tauranga competed with two Whakatane teams for the Jenkins Cup; Rotorua won with 49 points, Opotiki and Whakatane were second equal with 47 points. Details:— No. 1, Eye-opener* 10 birds: A. J. Brown, W. Hume, J. Watt and E. Julian shot the possible and divided the stake. No. 2, £25 Trophy, 10 birds: J. F. Thomas, S. Kerr and R. McllWraith shot the possible and in the shoot off the result was Thomas 1, Mcllwraith 2, Kerr 3. No. 3, Jenkins Cup, teams of six, 10 birds: Rotorua A, 49 points, 1; Opotiki A and Whakatane A, 47 2. Sweepstake run in conjunction with Jenkins Cup: K. Chatfield 10, 1; J. Tebbutt, J. -F. Thomas, W. Hume, S. Cooper, L. George and J. Watt 9 each. 4, £25 Open, 15 birds: Pulis and A. J. Brown 14 equal 1; J. McLeod, J. A. Parkinson, S. Kerr, J. Shove, J. F. Thomas, J. L. Ross 13 each. 5, £1 Sweepstake, 10 birds: J. F. Thomas, J. A. Parkinson, F. J. Carter and J. Brown 10 each and divided the stake. 6, Box Shoot Sweepstake, 7 birds: W. J. Costello, W- C. Davies and W. Mayo 7 each and divided the stake. 7, Gimcrack Sweepstake, 5 birds: J. Plamus, W. C. Davies, J. Costello, J. Hayward, J. Mcleod, J. A. Parkinson, A. J. Brown and L. George 5 each and divided the stake.
