Timber Freight Favours Bay
It still costs less to rail timber from the Bay of Plenty.to Auckland than from Rotorua to Auckland. Rail freight from Rotorua to Auckland and district is now 6/11 per 100 superficial feet and the corresponding figure from Bay of Plenty is 6/6, a difference of 5d in favour of the Bay. Formerly there was a difference of lOd.
