Erosion Control On Whakatane River

Survey of the Whakatane River from its mouth to the gorge, a distance of over 27 miles, -has been completed by the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council. Plans have been completed. r and a comprehensive scheme will be prepared for this length of the'river with a view to co-ordinating all future wqrks for the maximum benefit. Owing to shortage of staff, this scheme will not be ready for some time, but the„ County Council has been assured-that urgent works will not be delayed. Recently the Soil Conservation and divers Control Council approved, four erosion control jobs, oja the Whakatane River.
