A striped marlin weighing 4651 b., Which is thought to constitute a New Zealand record for that type of fish, on any class of tackle, was landed from Mr L. Matheson's launch Wanderer, by Mr R. M. Black, of Auckland, when fishing in. Mayor Island waters last week. • The officially recognised world record " striped marlin, weighing 6921 b., was taken, on a 24 thread line, by Mr A. Hannan in Californian waters. The Mayor Island fish is also claimed as a world record for a catch from a 39 thread line.
