Whakatane Rotary Club’s First Evening Meeting

The first evening meeting of the Whakatane Rotary Club was held in the Blue Bird Lounge on Tuesday. A much larger attendance was recorded than was previously done at the mid-day meetings, so it would appear that the evening meetings suit members better.

Speaker for the evening was Mr W. Dreghorn who spoke on his travels up and down the West Coast. His talk was made more interesting than the usual run of travel talks in that he had a number of water colour paintings and pencil sketches done by him on the trip. Another “first time” on Tuesday was the issuing of a Rotary Club letter to members informing them of the speaker for the evening, the time of meeting and any other items of interest. This letter is a new innovation to the Whakatane Club and is produced by Rotarians C. Kingsley-Smith, and R. B. Mollgaard.
