Big British Grocer Wants Bay Of Plenty Butter
Determined to make early contact with New Zealand food-producing concerns against the day when rationing and Government restrictions in Great Britain are lifted, Mr A. R. Wilkins, of Bristol, has arrived at Wellington. Mr Wilkins said that after eight years of rationing and restrictions Englishmen longed for the day when they could buy goods under the old marks they had learned to like. A grocer in a fairly large way, Mr Wilkins said he was interested in brokerage concerns which could buy up to £200,000 worth of foodstuffs. He proposed to see the New Zealand Food Controller and make contracts with production concerns so that when restrictions ended no time would be lost in allowing New Zealand brands to be -bought by people in Britain who wanted them. He had always bought Bay of Plenty butter in the past and he wanted to be able to do so again.
