Whakatane Golf Club Meeting Decides To Open Season Early In April

It was decided at the annual general meeting of the Whakatane Golf Club, held recently, that the club would open its course on April 3. The course, it was reported, had stood up to the dry summer very well and with good rain before cold weather starts it is expected that the fairways will be in good order. The greens, of course, have been kept in excellent order since last season. Much-needed attention to the tees is being given and a comprehensive plan of enlarging the existing tees and constructing permanent auxiliary tees has been undertaken by the co/nmittee. The local club is intending to visit Te Puke for the official opening of that club’s new club-house and playing season.
