Pongakawa Rabbit Board Accepts Authority Over New Rotorua Extension
At this month’s meeting, the Pongakawa Rabbit Board accepted authority over a large block of land, to be known as the Rotorua extension. This increase in territory will give the board’s employees a larger district to cover, and it was proposed that the pay of these employees be raised to compensate for the extra work involved, but decision on' the matter was deferred.
The Board’s letter to the Agriculture Department urging that an import license be granted to Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. for the importation of Cyanogas for the destruction of rabbits, was read and the secretary reported that the necessary license had now been issued. The Inspector said that the additional Cyanogas pump ordered had not arrived.
Mr P. MacDougall and Mr R. F. Black gave their report on the proceedings of the North Island Rabbit Board’s conference which was held at Te. Awamutu on Monday, December 22, .1947. A report was also received from the Secretary of the North Island Rabbit Board’s Association. outlining the resolutions adopted by the meeting and mentioning that Messrs. C. A. Williams and E. Baker had been elected as the Association’s representatives on the Rabbit Destruction Council.
