Last week’s annual meeting of the Whakatane branch of the National Parti was well-attended,. Mr H. G. Warren, president, being in the chair. “

Mr K. Welch, electorate secretary, gave an interesting survey of progress made during the year and congratulated the branch on its work. Mr D. Butler, electorate chairman, spoke most ‘enthusiastically of" the .work in the Bay of Plenty electorate, with particular reference to .the keenness of the local Junior Club.

Mr W. Sullivan M.P. addressed the meeting oh the alarming growth of Communism throughout the world.
