New Zealand Lends Itself To Flax-Milling: Industry Still In Its Infancy

Despite the fact that the flaxmilling industry is only in its infancy in New Zealand compared with flax industries in other countries, it has within the past few years made remarkable progress. With a world shortage of flax products today the industry will undoubtedly expand rapidly in the near future.

New Zealand lends itself readily to flaxmilling since conditions for growing flax are ideal; the native plant used outrivals that of other countries both in quality and the time in which it takes to mature. Te Aroha district appears to be one of the most favourable areas for flaxmilling and if it were to be further exploited there is little doubt that it would prove to be one of the greatest flax producing areas of the Dominion.
