An Australian Horseman In the Sydney Cup and his other engagements in Australia Beau le Havre will be ridden by Darby Munro, who will doubtless have some enjoyable rides. As one of. Australia’s leading horsemen Darby knows all the ins and outs of racing in the Commonwealth, and Beau le Havre will benefit by the knowledge. A Classy Coronach Buchanan, winner of the Springvale Handicap at Wanganui, is a two-year-old bay colt by Coronach —Fairest (Imp) by Fairway. In his only three starts this season he has registered a third and two wins. Owned by Mr J. G. Alexander, of Wanganui, he will be heard of again. The Jackson Stakes Very wide interest was evinced in the re-instated Jackson Stakes at Wanganui, for which Great Trek, Majesty and Sleepy Fox were considered unbeatable. But the victor turned up in the Revelation gelding Voltaic, who in seven starts this season has been credited with two wins. Even now it will not be claimed that Voltaic is faster than the trio here mentioned, but it is certain he is more used to left-handed tracks. An Appeal To Conference Mr J. H. Marshall, of Wellington, owner of Howe, the 'first past the post winner of the Auckland Cup, has lodged an appeal with the N.Z. Racing Conference against the decision of the Auckland Racing Club in which Balgowan was placed first, King’s Ransom second and Howe third. The final stage has now been reached,., and the result will be interesting to turf patrons throughout the length ' and breadth of the Dominion.
