London Schoolgirls Taught Art Of Make-Up
Schoolgirls in some London primary and secondary schools are being taught to use make-up, because teachers think that when the girls leave school they use make-up clumsily. Lectures and demonstrations are being given each week at a studio in Great Newport Street, London. At the demonstrations the girls act as models while make-up experts : show how to apply foundation cream, lipstick, and powder. Miss Peggy Messenger, a teacher at the County Secondary School, Mordern, Surrey, said: “All young girls want to use lipstick and powder, and it looks very attractive used correctly. Mostly they just plaster it on, so we thought some instruction would be a good idea. “During their last year at school, I have been giving lessons on beauty culture, exercises, and care of the skin and hands, and the make-up lessons finish the course.”
