Chamber Of Commerce Bids Farewell To Old Resident
A small informal farewell was given to Mr C. F. Thomas last evening by the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce. Mr Thomas who has been a resident in Whakatane for 14 years is going to Havelock North to start a stationery and book shop there. Mr B. S. Barry voiced the opinion of the whole gathering, when he said how much the people, especially the business people of Whakatane would miss Mr Thomas and he was sorry he had seen fit to shift to another district. ’He with all the meeting wished Mr Thomas- the best of luck in his new business and all the happiness in his new home. Mr Thomas said he found it very hard to say good-bye to a group of men with whom he had had both business and personal contact. A prominent member of the local R.S.A. Mr Thomas gave invaluable assistance to the men returning from this war, he was also on the council of the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce.
