New Petrol Coupons Now Available: Motorists Advised To Be Early
New petrol coupons have been on issue at the Whakatane Post Office since Wednesday and they can be obtained from the old money-order counter in the main building. The first day of issuance was slow, only fifty sets being issued to private motorists.
“This number is particularly low for the number of vehicles registered at this office,” said Mr W. - A. Trask, Postmaster, when questioned about the subject yesterday. He added that people will have to hurry and obtain their coupons to save congestion when rationing is introduced.
Questioned in regard to the issue of commercial licenses Mr Trask said he was completely in the dark and had not the slightest idea when he would be advised; but he added, as soon as he received any definite information he would let the public know.
